Thelypteris
Rhizomes long, slender, erect or creeping, scaly; stipes contain two vascular bundles; leaves arise singly, 1-pinnate-pinnatifid; sori usually round, in rows often near but not along margins of segments.

Up to about 1000 species worldwide, but this genus has been variously subdivided in to many other genera by different authors. One species in Britain and Ireland.
