Oreopteris
Medium to large terrestrial ferns. Rhizomes short, thick; leaves in tufts, petiole much shorter than blade; blade 1-pinnate-pinnatisect to almost 2-pinnate; lowest pair of pinnules very short; sori in row near pinnule margin.

The genus Oreopteris is included by some authors within Thelypteris. Three species in mostly temperate, coastal or mountainous regions of Europe, Asia, and Western North America. One species in Britain and Ireland.
